Introducing Packrafting. A new and exciting activity at Kayak Voss for 2022!

Packrafts are wide, stable one-person inflatable crafts. They can weigh as little as 2kg and fit in a backpack. This opens up endless opportunities for adventures in the wilderness. They are strong, stable and very easy to learn and suitable for use on all bodies of water. From fjords, to surfing waves and running waterfalls. Due to their versatility, lightness and stability these crafts are becoming more and more popular as an easier and friendlier way to get into and explore the world of whitewater. 

 

This year Kayak Voss will be offering 4hr guided trips and an introduction to the exciting world of whitewater packrafting. 

 

We will meet you at the car park of Kiwi Palmafossen from there you can follow us to the river. Starting from Bjorke we will run a beautiful section of the crystal clear and turquoise waters of the Raundelen river. This journeytakes you down to the damn at Palmafossen.

 

We will start by talking a little bit about the packrafts and their uses and cover some important safety aspects of the river. Once on the water we will get you comfortable in you packraft, falling out of it and climbing back in. For there we will go over some basic paddling techniques and skills to enable you to navigate this beautiful strech of river and enjoy its many rapids! 

 

Kayak Voss will provide all of the river equipment that you will need. Please bring with you the following: 

• Woolen thermals for under the wetsuit 

• Shoes that can get wet 

• A change of dry clothing  

• Water 

• Sunscreen
